Turn Intention Into Action

Thinking about that colleague who had a birthday? Wondering what that friend from college has been up to? Where has my cousin landed with their new role?

Confidence often doesn’t announce itself with a grand entrance; it accumulates quietly through repeated small acts of showing up. When you choose to try despite feeling unsure, you train your mind to expect competence, not perfection. Each attempt — even those that feel clumsy or uncertain — adds another brick to the foundation of self-trust, proving over time that you’re capable of handling what comes.

If you want to increase your contacts with others, start where you are and use what you have. Instead of waiting for the perfect message, network event, or conversation starter, take manageable steps: send a short note to someone in your contacts, send a hi to a family member you haven’t talked to in a while, comment thoughtfully on a recent message, or invite a colleague for a quick coffee, pick up the phone and call a friend or relative. Those tiny actions, repeated consistently, create momentum and open doors that a single dramatic effort rarely does.

You don’t need to be fearless to strengthen or grow your network; you need to be willing to try, learn, and persist. Expect stumbles and awkward moments, but treat them as information rather than failure. Over time, persistence turns unfamiliar faces into acquaintances and acquaintances into meaningful connections, and meaningful connections into a stable foundation — and along the way, your confidence will grow with every step you take.
